HELLO AND WELCOME! MY NAME IS MING D. LIU, A BROOKLYN NATIVE THAT CURRENTLY SPENDS HER TIME IN NEW YORK CITY AND LONG BEACH, NY. I AM A STORYTELLER, CREATIVE, EXPLORER AND AN ASPIRING CHANGEMAKER WITH A LOVE FOR ART, TRAVEL, SOCIAL GOOD AND SUSTAINABILITY.
As a first Asian American after the pursuit of life, happiness and passion, I started sharing my personal writing on the internet in 2012. It is because of this initial move that led me to connect with souls all around the world, write over 4,000 pieces of prose and poetry and self publish a collection of work called, The Letters You Left Behind. To be honest, I never thought about attracting an audience until I saw the power of words - how it could move, heal and invoke the tumultuous emotions that make us all humans. That's when I thought to myself, "Maybe this is what I am meant to do."
As I strive to live a more sustainable lifestyle and be conscientious of the world around me, I realize how much my dreams has changed since college. After graduating with an English degree, my dream was to work in book publishing and one day write a New York Time's bestseller. It’s funny how life can take a different direction without intention, but the one thing that has always stayed is the art of storytelling and pushing for positive change. By day, I am a publicist, but my heart lies with Earthling Mag, a lifestyle brand and digital magazine designed to inspire mindful living, and of course - this blog, a place to share my adventures and thoughts.
Growing up, I've always been enamored by nature; due to our family’s financial struggles, travel was not an option. Yet, I found ways to fall in love with different parts of the city - rustic coffee shops, city streets with mesmerizing interior or just the closest body of water by home. Nowadays, I satiate my wanderlust whenever I can by discovering every crevice - across the country or just an hour drive away, whether it's the best hiking trails in Long Island or how to road trip the coast of California. I want to show you that there is extraordinary in the ordinary destinations. To me, travel isn’t just about photographing the prettiest scene or tasting the most expensive cuisine; it’s about connecting with locals and new people, finding inspirations in their lifestyles, making an impact on the communities, and finding our deepest compassion for the world - that is how we can truly explore our world.
I believe in authenticity and passion. I believe in continuously learning and growing. I believe in doing things with love and doing good every day. Through my journey, I aspire to inspire, be empowered, and discover more about myself, this world, and those who encompass it. After all, we exist for the same reasons — to love, aspire to inspire, and live a purposeful life.
